Officers were first called at around 9:50 a.m. on Wednesday morning to the 500 block of Retreat Court in Odenton, where they found 34-year-old Steven Michael Nabakowski suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

According to police, his father, Jack Michael Nabakowski, a retired service member, was also found dead from what is believed to have been a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the Fort George G. Meade Army installation later during the investigation.

"Yesterday was a tragic day here at Fort Meade and Odenton," Garrison Commander Col. Michael A. Sapp and Command Sgt. Maj. Andre Welch wrote in a statement.

"Our condolences go out to all who are impacted by these events. We remain in close coordination with the Anne Arundel County Police Department in these ongoing investigations."

No motive for the murder-suicide has been released by police investigators, who made note that the two lived together in Odenton.

The final causes and manners of death are now being determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.

More information is expected to be released.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact the department by calling (410) 222-4731.
